Free User Interface Design Process White Paper
1. Research & Analysis
Purpose:  To answer the following questions:
About users
Who are the users?
What are their skill levels?
What are their expectations?
What are their tasks and goals for this application?
Under what conditions will they use the application?
About the application
What problem is the application intended to solve?
What are its functional, operational, and marketing purposes?
What are the functional specifications for the application?
What are the specifications for the software, hardware, and graphics required to create and deliver the application?
Deliverables:  Requirements to be met by the design.
2. Design & Branding
Purpose: To design a user interface that addresses the specific needs identified in the Research & Analysis phase.
Deliverables:    A series of sketches of interface concepts as well as a document detailing the specifics of the interface.
3. Prototype Development
Purpose: To create a proof-of-concept and a tool for usability testing.
Deliverables: A working model of the interface.
4. Production
Purpose: To execute the user interface created during the Design and Prototype phases.
Deliverables: Screen layouts and graphics for every part of the interface; consultingand review to ensure that the interface is implemented smoothly and properly.
